A Timeline of Education Warrior

Morris Cutler

Diane Lewis, the founder of Education Warrior, has lived her life in dedication to education. Diane’s grandmother Bella, who never had the opportunity to attend school in Czarist Russia, emphasized to her father, Morris Cutler, the importance of a great education. This instilled in him a life-long passion for learning and inspired him to become the “Education Warrior” intent on shaping young lives in California and around the world. He realized that improving a child’s education opens the door to rewriting their life story.

Los Angeles

From the 1950’s to the 1970’s, Morris Cutler became a recognized leader in California schools. Diane Lewis’ father worked to give even the poorest and most vulnerable underprivileged children a path to success.

Afghanistan

Between 1973 and 1975, the U.S. State Department hired Morris Cutler to develop the Royal Afghan Curriculum to transform reading from a tool of the privileged to a means for all boys and girls to become literate in their language.

Kenya

Between 1980 to 1982 – In Kenya, where knowledge of English was crucial to compete on a global level, Morris Cutler created a program to teach the language to millions of people in the bush by radio.

Scholarship

In 2019, The Morris Cutler Scholarship and Education Warrior non-profit is created by Diane Cutler Lewis, the daughter of Morris Cutler.

Today

In 2021, the Morris Cutler Scholarship has helped the tutoring of thousands of students.
